Introductio
Dental tourism is a growing trend in which individuals travel internationally to receive dental care. This phenomenon has been driven by a combination of factors, including rising healthcare costs in developed countries, the availability of high quality dental care at lower costs in countries such as Turkey, and the desire for a unique experience. Many patients who travel for dental care also report that they enjoy the culture and scenery of the destination country. The aim of this study is to explore the concept of dental tourism and to assess the brand equity of Turkey as a dental tourism destination.
Literature Revie
The concept of dental tourism has been defined as “a form of medical tourism which involves patients travelling from their home country to another country to receive dental care” (Kaufman, 2016). Dental tourism is driven by a combination of factors, including the availability of high quality, low-cost dental care, the desire to experience a new culture, and the perceived advantages of travelling abroad for dental care (Mann, 2017).
In recent years, the concept of dental tourism has become increasingly popular, with many countries vying to become a destination of choice for these medical tourists (Tulloch et al., 2018). Turkey is one such country that has been successful in positioning itself as a major destination for dental tourism. Turkey has been lauded for its high standards of dental care, its cost-effectiveness, and its unique cultural offerings (Kavak, 2017).
Methodolog
This study utilized a qualitative methodology. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with a purposive sample of 15 individuals who had travelled to Turkey for dental care. The interviews were designed to explore the participants’ experiences of dental care in Turkey, as well as their perceptions of Turkish culture and their overall impressions of the country as a dental tourism destination.
Result
The results of the interviews revealed that the participants had a positive overall impression of Turkey as a dental tourism destination. The participants reported that the quality of care was high and that the cost of treatment was significantly lower than in their home countries. They also noted that the cultural experiences offered by the country were enjoyable and that the people were friendly and welcoming.
Conclusio
This study explored the concept of dental tourism and assessed the brand equity of Turkey as a dental tourism destination. The results of the study revealed that the participants had a positive overall impression of Turkey as a dental tourism destination.
