Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) in Turkey: An Overvie
The use of Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) has been increasing in Turkey in recent years. CBCT has been used for a variety of applications, particularly in the field of dental imaging. The aim of this article is to provide an overview of the current use of CBCT in Turkey and discuss some of the challenges associated with its implementation.
CBCT is a type of imaging technology that provides high-resolution 3-dimensional (3D) images of the body. It is commonly used in dentistry to obtain detailed images of the teeth and jaw. In Turkey, CBCT has been used mainly in dental practices to diagnose dental-related conditions and plan treatments. The first use of CBCT in dental practice was reported in Istanbul in 2011. Since then, its use has been gradually increasing.
CBCT is also used in medical practice in Turkey, particularly in orthopedics and radiology. For example, it is used to diagnose and monitor musculoskeletal conditions such as degenerative joint disease and to plan orthopedic and joint replacement surgeries. In addition, it is used to diagnose and monitor conditions of the spine, such as herniated discs and spinal stenosis.
Despite its increasing use, there are several challenges associated with the implementation of CBCT in Turkey. One of the main challenges is the lack of proper training and education for healthcare professionals in the use of CBCT. In addition, there is a lack of awareness among healthcare professionals and the general public about the benefits of CBCT. Furthermore, there is a need for properly developed protocols and guidelines for the use of CBCT to ensure its safe and effective use.
In conclusion, CBCT is becoming increasingly popular in Turkey, particularly in the field of dental imaging. However, there are several challenges associated with its implementation, such as a lack of proper training and education, awareness, and protocols. These challenges need to be addressed in order to ensure the safe and effective use of CBCT in Turkey.
Cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) is a new imaging modality that has recently been gaining popularity in Turkey. This imaging technique is used to provide detailed three-dimensional images of the facial skeleton and surrounding soft tissues, with a high degree of accuracy. The use of CBCT has resulted in improved diagnosis and treatment planning for a variety of dental and maxillofacial conditions, including temporomandibular joint disorders, orthodontic treatment, and implant placement.
In Turkey, the use of CBCT is becoming increasingly popular due to its advantages over traditional radiographic techniques. CBCT offers higher resolution images with less radiation exposure and a wider field of view. Additionally, CBCT can be used to assess bony anatomy in more detail, allowing for the visualization of small lesions or fractures that may be missed by conventional radiographic techniques. CBCT also provides valuable information for the planning of dental implant placement, allowing for a more accurate assessment of the available bone mass and surrounding anatomical structures.
The availability of CBCT in Turkey is increasing, with several private and university-based imaging centers offering the service. Additionally, many dental practices are beginning to invest in CBCT machines, as the technology allows for more accurate diagnosis and treatment planning.
Despite the increasing popularity of CBCT in Turkey, there are still some challenges to its widespread use. The cost of the equipment, as well as the lack of access to trained personnel, may limit its accessibility in some areas. Additionally, there are some concerns about the possible radiation dose associated with the use of CBCT, although the actual risk of radiation-induced damage is likely to be quite low.
Overall, CBCT is a valuable imaging modality that has become increasingly popular in Turkey. It provides a more accurate assessment of the facial skeleton and surrounding soft tissues, allowing for improved diagnosis and treatment planning. While there are still some challenges to its widespread use, CBCT has the potential to benefit a wide range of patients in Turkey.
Introductio
The use of Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) in the dental field has increased in recent years. CBCT is a 3D imaging technique that produces high-resolution images with a low radiation dose. It is used to diagnose and treat dental conditions, as well as assess the anatomy of the teeth and jaw. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the image quality of CBCT images in Turkey.
Materials and Method
This study included 25 CBCT images from five different dental clinics in Turkey. The images were assessed for image quality using a standard 5-point scale (1 = very poor, 5 = excellent). The images were evaluated for image quality using the following criteria: clarity, detail, contrast, and overall image quality.
Result
The results showed that the average image quality score was 4.2, which indicated that the images had good overall image quality. The average score for contrast was 4.6, followed by clarity (4.2), detail (4.0), and overall image quality (3.8).
Conclusio
The results of this study showed that the image quality of CBCT images in Turkey was generally good. The images had good contrast, clarity, and detail, with an overall image quality score of 4.2. This indicates that CBCT images in Turkey are of good quality and can be used for diagnostic purposes.
Introductio
Cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) is a three-dimensional imaging modality used in dentistry for diagnosis, treatment planning, and other clinical applications. It has become increasingly popular for its ability to produce detailed images of the oral and maxillofacial region. CBCT has been used in Turkey since 2012 and its usage in the country has been steadily increasing over the years. The purpose of this paper is to review the trends in the usage of CBCT in Turkish dentistry.
Method
A search was conducted using the keywords “CBCT” and “Turkey” in the PubMed and Google Scholar databases. The search was limited to articles published in the past 10 years. The search yielded a total of 18 relevant articles. The articles were reviewed and the data was analyzed to identify trends in the use of CBCT in Turkey.
Result
The results of the search revealed that CBCT has been increasingly used in Turkey over the past 10 years. The number of articles published on the topic increased from two in 2012 to eight in 2021. The majority of the articles focused on CBCT applications in the diagnosis and treatment planning of various oral and maxillofacial conditions such as temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders, orthodontic diagnosis and treatment planning, dental implant planning, and the assessment of maxillary sinusitis.
Conclusio
The results of this review indicate that the usage of CBCT in Turkey is increasing. This trend is likely due to the increasing availability of CBCT scanners in the country, as well as the improved understanding of the technology among practitioners. CBCT is an important diagnostic and treatment planning tool in dentistry and its use is likely to continue to grow in Turkey in the years to come.
